Which First Pokemon to Pick in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet: Ah, the age-old question: which Pokemon should I choose as my first Pokemon? We totally get it. Back in Pokemon Red and Blue, picking between Charmander and Squirtle was a big deal, and it’s only gotten harder since then. Gen 9’s First Partner Pokemon are no different.
Have you seen how cute they are? We’re here to help you choose between Sprigatito, Quaxly, and Fuecoco as your starter Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet.
Which Starter Pokemon to Pick in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet
So, there are a few things to think about when choosing the best Pokemon to start with in Paldea. On the one hand, it depends on whether you like Grass, Water, or Fire more.
On the other hand, you could do what we do and choose based only on how cute they look. The way Quaxly’s hair flips, Fuecoco’s cute smile, and Sprigatito’s being a cat says it all.
Even though there is no “official” Gym order in the Paldea region, The Pokemon Company says that players can take on any Gym, Titan Pokemon, or Team Star Base in any order they want.
This is technically true, but if you do it, you’ll get your arse kicked because levels don’t scale, so you could walk into a level 50 Gym at level 20 and get beaten up.
Because of this, we’ve made a list of the Gyms, Team Star, and Titan Pokemon in the order we think is best.
So, Fuecoco is a good starting Pokémon if you want to have an easy time in the early Gyms. Quaxly is the most balanced Pokemon, but it is weaker in the early Gyms.
Towards the end of the game, it has an advantage with Team Star’s Fire Crew and one of the Titan Pokemon. Sprigatito is the fastest and has the most powerful attacks, but it won’t do as well in early Gyms, against Titan Pokemon, or in Team Star Bases.
