Where Was Glass Onion Filmed? Exact Locations

Where Was Glass Onion Filmed? When Knives Out came out in 2019, it was immediately compared to the board game Clue (or Cluedo) because it took place in a big, gothic manor house.

The same can’t be said for its long-awaited sequel, Glass Onion. Benoit Blanc’s trip to Greece in the new Netflix movie is a big change from the first movie.

Where Was Glass Onion Filmed?

Glass Onion takes place almost entirely on a luxurious private island with a beautiful and modern villa at its center. But where exactly was Knives Out 2 filmed, and what locations were used to make the beautiful background?

On November 23, 2022, Glass Onion opened in a small number of theaters. On December 23, 2022, it will be available on Netflix.

Daniel Craig is back as Detective Benoit Blanc, and this time he has to solve a new, complicated mystery on a private estate on a Greek island where eccentric billionaire Miles Bron has gathered his close friends for their annual get-together.

When someone dies, Blanc starts to peel back the layers of Glass Onion, and it turns out that everyone on the island is hiding their own dark secrets, making them all dangerous suspects.

Where Was Glass Onion Filmed?

The movie Glass Onion was shot in both Greece and Serbia.

Since the second Knives Out movie takes place on a Greek island, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the film crew went there to shoot on location.

Production took place on the island of Spetses, which is in the Aegean Sea off the south-eastern coast of Greece. It is at the mouth of the Argolic Gulf.

On top of that, the filming for Miles’s luxurious villa actually takes place on the nearby mainland at Villa 20 in the Amanzoe hotel near the town of Porto Heli.

Between June 28 and July 30, 2021, movies were shot in Greece. After that, the production moved to Serbia and ended on September 13.

Reports say that the film crew for Glass Onion stayed in Belgrade, the capital city of Serbia. This is likely where the movie’s studio scenes were shot.

Cast and crew of Glass Onion stayed at the Amanzoe resort

During filming, the cast and crew of Glass Onion are said to have stayed at the Amanzoe resort. Writer and director Rian Johnson called it “a summer vacation where we made a movie.”

Fans of the movie can also stay at the posh resort where the movie was filmed, but the prices aren’t cheap.

The Amanzoe resort near Porto Heli is closed for the winter. It will open again on April 1, 2023, for the next summer season.

The resort is now taking reservations for when it reopens. A seven-night stay for two adults during the first week of April is expected to cost more than €10,710, since the cheapest room, the Pool Pavilion, costs €1,530 per night, and that’s before taxes and other fees are added.

If you want to go in the middle of summer, in June, July, or August, the cheapest rooms cost between €3,000 and €4,000 per night.

The most expensive place to stay on the site is a 6-bedroom villa, which costs €13,500 per night in April and €17,729 per night in the middle of summer.

The website doesn’t list a price for the huge nine-bedroom Villa 20, where the movie “Glass Onion” was filmed, which suggests that it is even more eye-poppingly expensive.
