Where to find Phantom Bird in Monster Hunter World Phantom? In Monster Hunter World, the Phantom Bird is a rare native creature. It’s called a Downy Crake, and you’ll need to catch one to finish a research bounty for the Endemic Researcher.
The Downy Crake is small, fluffy, and covered in feathers. The person who gave you the quest will give you a hint, but it’s still hard to find. That’s why we decided to write this guide on where to find the Phantom Bird in Monster Hunter World.
Where to find Phantom Bird in Monster Hunter World Phantom?
The Phantom Bird lives in harmony with Apceros and Aptonoth, which are both bigger animals. This means it can be found in the Wildspire Waste and the Ancient Forest. The little birds hang out in groups on the backs of the big ones.

You may have to do this more than once because the birds don’t always come back. Go to sector 1 of either area and look for the flocks of ghost birds on the larger monsters we’ve mentioned. If you can’t find any, teleport to the other area’s sector 1 and look there. If that doesn’t work, keep teleporting back and forth until it does.
Put on a Ghillie Mantle once you’ve found a group of fluffy birds. Approach them slowly and then use your capture net to grab one. Aim for the middle of the group—you only have one shot at them before they scatter to the four corners of the earth.
