Victoria 3 General Error Can’t Play the Victoria 3

Several posts on Steam say that players who tried to start the Victoria 3 game couldn’t. Players usually get two errors: “General Error – We were unable to parse the launcher setting file” and “Launching the game failed.”

Please check that your game files are correct. The wrong place for the.EXE file in the Paradox launcher is the main cause of this problem. The problem didn’t seem to be fixed by reinstalling the game, updating the launcher, or checking the integrity of the files, but some players found a way around it.

1: It turns out that the problem is easy to solve. Find the Victoria game folder (usually in C:Program Files (x86)Steamsteamappscommon), then look in the Binaries folder for the Victoria.exe file.

This should fix the problem. Also, make sure that your antivirus software isn’t stopping the launcher from working. To stop this from happening, add the launcher and game to the list of things that your security programme won’t protect you from.

There are other ways out, but they might be a little trickier than the first one.

2: Open the launcher-settings.json file, which you can find in the launcher folder of the Victoria 3 folder. Then, change the value of formatVersion from 1.1 to 1. We’d like to thank MatWax for coming up with this idea.

3: Go to the C:WindowsSysWOW64 folder, copy the dbghelp.dll file, then paste it in the Victoria 3 binary folder and start the game. We would like to thank Ne0! y for this answer.
