Russell Wilson Team 3, Coaches and More

Russell Wilson Team 3, Coaches and More: On Monday, February 6, Sean Payton was introduced as the new head coach of the Denver Broncos at the team’s headquarters.

The Broncos just fired their former head coach Nathaniel Hackett after a bad season in which they went 5-12.

Not surprisingly, a lot of the questions asked of Payton were about Russell Wilson, who is his quarterback. But it’s clear that the superstar won’t get special treatment after his rough first season in Denver.

Payton said he doesn’t plan to let Russell Wilson’s personal coaches hang out with the team in the future.

“I don’t know anything about that,” Payton said. “That isn’t going to happen here. I don’t know anything about it. But our staff and players will be here and that will be it.

Wilson is also said to have his own office and parking spot at the Broncos’ facility, but it doesn’t look like that will be the case for long.

What Is Russell Wilson’s Team 3?

Russell Wilson’s team, or “Team 3” as it’s called informally, is the group of personal coaches who look after and follow the Broncos quarterback.

Russell Wilson’s performance team was reportedly let into team headquarters last season, which isn’t normal and is thought to have caused problems in the Broncos camp.

Team 3 gets its name from the fact that Wilson wears the No. 3 jersey, and the term “Team 3” is used to describe him and his group. Wilson even has a business and website of his own called “3BRAND.”

Russell Wilson’s Personal Coach Jake Heaps

Russell Wilson’s personal performance team, Team 3, is made up of trainers, physical therapists, and other people. That includes Jake Heaps, who went with quarterback Russell Wilson when he moved from Seattle to Denver last year.

Heaps went to training camp last offseason, but he won’t be able to do that anymore. Jake Heaps used to play quarterback in college. In 2015, he joined the Jets as a rookie who wasn’t picked in the draft.

In 2016 and 2017, he was on the Seahawks’ practice squad and around the team, which is where he met Wilson. Heaps is said to have worked as a sports radio host in Seattle and as a quarterbacks coach since then. In 2022, he quit his job at Seattle Sports 710 AM to move to Denver with Wilson and be his full-time quarterback coach.

Payton on next season’s work with the quarterback

Wilson started 15 of the Broncos’ 17 games last season. He had 55 sacks, which was a career high, and 16 touchdown passes, which was a career low. His completion percentage was also a career low (60.5).

But Sean Payton knows Wilson and is optimistic about where his team can go with the quarterback’s skills.

Payton said, “Here’s what I know: Wilson works hard.” “I know he works very, very hard. That’s a big deal. And I think he’s won a lot of games in Seattle with the skills he has. Then you decide what to do.”
