It goes without saying that you wouldn’t want this to happen. This can be true for both Pokemon you bought from other people and ones you caught yourself.

This will depend on a few things. First, the level the Pokemon at the time you caught them. And secondly, how many Gym Badges you have won in the game. Let’s talk about how these two things work.

There are many different levels of Pokemon in Scarlet & Violet. So if you catch a Pokemon with a higher level than you can handle right now, it won’t listen to you.

This depends on how many Gym Badges you have. It goes like this: 1 Gym Badge (Pokemon level 25), 2 Gym Badges (Pokemon level 30) 3. Gym Badges (regardless of Pokemon level).

So, as you can see, the more Gym Badges you have, the higher level Pokemon you can catch and train to follow your orders.

You can look at your Trainer Profile to find out how many badges you have and which level Pokemon will follow you.

On the other hand, if you caught a Pokemon when it was low level and then leveled it up, it will always listen to you, no matter how many badges you have.

This means that if you catch a Pokemon at a low level, say 7, and then level it up during the game to Level 55, it will listen to you even if you haven’t won any Gym Badges yet.
