Need for speed unbound editions : All you need to know

by Ami Dalsania

Need for speed unbound editions: After a two-year break, the Need For Speed series is back with Need For Speed Unbound. Like most modern games, it will come in a deluxe version called the Palace Edition, just like most games do these days.

Even though it might sound like the pack is about royalty, it is actually a joint project with Palace, a high-end fashion and skateboard brand. The partnership makes a lot of sense, since Need for Speed Unbound is all about style and breaking the rules.

But there is always the same question about these deluxe editions: are they worth it? In this article, we’ll look at what the Palace Edition adds over the Standard Edition and decide if it’s worth spending more money on.

Need for speed unbound editions

Need For Speed Unbound has a simple pricing plan, which is good because it’s only coming out on current-gen consoles and not on any of the old ones.

Differences Between the Standard Edition and Palace Edition : Need for speed unbound editions

So, what do you get when you buy the Palace Edition of Need for Speed Unbound? You’d expect a lot of content for an extra $10/£10, and that’s exactly what you get.

Like most deluxe releases, the Palace Edition will have a different box art if you buy it physically. Instead of A$AP Rocky, the Standard Edition will have a Palace-branded 1976 Volkswagen Mk1 Golf GTI on the box. Rocky’s 1988 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 was made just for him.

To be honest, it’s a step down, because A$AP Rocky’s Mercedes is definitely the one that stands out more. Not only that, but the Golf doesn’t have much going for it besides the big Palace logo on the side.

Other than that, the Palace Edition comes with the following bonuses:

You can play Need for Speed Unbound 3 days early, giving you a head start on the competition.

You can get early access to four cars that have Palace logos and brand names on them. These cars are the 1976 Volkswagen Mk1 Golf GTI (which is on the cover of the physical Palace Edition), the 1988 BMW E30 M3, the 2017 Mercedes-AMG G 63, and the 2020 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series.

The 2020 Mercedes-AMG GT Black Series is the coolest of the bunch because its paint job is based on that of a Mercedes AMG GT3 car that Palace sponsored.

Palace Driving Effects are the cool things that happen to your car when you drift, do big air jumps, do a burnout, or use nitrous. These effects are mostly dark blue with bright red accents.

There are several Palace stickers that you can use in the livery editor to show how much you like the Palace brand.

It looks a lot like a real California license plate, except that it says “Palifornia” instead of “California” on it. This can be used in the menu for making changes to the car.

A pack of 20 pieces of Palace clothing, like jackets, shirts, shorts, and caps, that you can use to customize your character.

You can give your character an exclusive victory pose based on the Palace that they will do when they win a race, both online and off.
A Palace-branded artwork banner that you can use to show off to your opponents.

Is the Palace Edition Worth It?

For an extra $10/£10, the Palace Edition doesn’t seem to have enough extra content to justify the price hike. Even though the items are nice to have and a little bit unique, there isn’t much of a reason to get them if you don’t really care about or love the brand.

The Palace Edition’s exclusive cars, which are probably the most interesting things in the pack, are just reskins that you can get by playing the game normally. If you try hard enough, you can pretty much copy the decals and paint jobs in the livery editor.

The 3-day early access should have been a pre-order bonus at the very least, since it’s a perk that pretty much goes away after the game’s release date and only helps people who get it early. This makes the game less valuable to people who want to get it later.

Most of the Palace Edition is made up of customization items, which are more of a matter of taste because fashion and style don’t always work well for everyone. People who are loyal to certain brands in particular.

If you like the Palace brand, it might be worth it, but if you don’t know much about it, these items won’t mean much to you since you can get different driving effects just by playing the game.
