Monday, Jacquelyn Gwinn-Villaroel, the interim chief of the Louisville Metro Police Department, was asked about reports that the shooting was livestreamed on social media.

Monday morning, the shooting was reported by the Louisville Metro Police Department (LMPD), which said that “multiple people were hurt.”
On April 10, 2023, in Louisville, Kentucky, police try to stop a person who is shooting near the Old National Bank building. Initial reports said that several people were hurt, but the shooter was no longer a threat. Police in Louisville said that the shooter, who they think was Connor Sturgeon, livestreamed the shooting on social media.
Later, police said on Twitter that they got to the scene of the shooting within minutes of the first shot being fired. In the end, police shot and killed Sturgeon.
Police said that Joshua Barrick, 40, Thomas Elliot, 63, Juliana Farmer, 45, and James Tutt, 64, were the four people who died.
Also, police said that Officer Nickolas Wilt had been seriously hurt and was being treated at a hospital nearby. In a tweet, the LMPD showed a picture of Officer Wilt and wrote, “Officer Nickolas Wilt, a new member of the LMPD, ran toward the gunfire today to save lives. After being shot in the head, he is still in very bad shape.”
Monday, Sturgeon was named as the suspect shooter, and Gwinn-Villaroel said that he was killed by officers who got to the scene of the shooting at the Old National Bank within minutes of hearing about it. The police also made sure that Sturgeon worked at the bank.
