Lilt Renamed Fanta Pineapple & Grapefruit: Coca-Cola has said that Lilt has been taken off the market and turned into a new drink called Fanta Pineapple & Grapefruit.
The soda giant owns both Lilt and Fanta, so ownership isn’t changing. Instead, the tropical drink is being added to the lineup of flavors for the Fanta brand.
Most people in the UK drink Fanta Orange and Fanta Fruit Twist, but you can also get Fanta Lemon and Fanta Strawberry & Kiwi.
The sparkling soft drink has a “totally tropical taste” because it is made with real pineapple and grapefruit juice.
Brits are angry about the name change, even though the soda will still be the same.
Lilt Renamed Fanta Pineapple & Grapefruit
Lilt has been taken off the market and is now part of the Fanta brand. The first cans and bottles of Fanta with the Lilt name will be on sale in the UK on February 14.
The new Pineapple & Grapefruit flavor of Fanta will be available in 330ml cans, 500ml bottles, and 2L bottles. There will also be a version that has no sugar.
Coca-Cola said, “Lilt fans who have been paying attention may have noticed that the drink has slowly moved into the Fanta family over the past few months, with changes to its packaging and logo.”
Lilt might have a new name
Lilt might have a new name, but the formula and ingredients will stay the same. This means that the drink will still have its classic tropical taste.
Charlotte Walsham, the brand manager for Fanta, told the BBC that this was true. “Our main goal with this announcement is to reassure Lilt’s loyal fans that nothing has changed,” she said.
She also said that Fanta Pineapple & Grapefruit will have the “iconic taste” of Lilt, which is a flavor that everyone knows and loves.
“It still tastes of tangy tropical fruits. It just got a new name,” added Martin Attock, vice president of commercial development, to The Grocer.
The new cans and bottles of Fanta are baby blue and have pictures of grapefruit and pineapple along with the well-known Fanta logo.
