Ja Morant was born in Dalzell, South Carolina, on August 10, 1999. His real name is Temetrius Jamel Morant, not Ja, which is an interesting fact.
Dalzell is a small town in South Carolina. It has about 3,000 people living there. One description says that Dalzell is a mix of suburban and rural, and most of the people who live there own their own homes. Dalzell is home to many families and young professionals, and most of the people who live there are liberal.

Morant grew up in Sumter, South Carolina, and played basketball for Crestwood when he was in high school. He also played with the South Carolina Hornets in the Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) circuit, where he often played against older opponents.
After that, he played college basketball for two years at Murray State in Murray, Kentucky, since he wasn’t very well known.

Tee and Jamie Morant are Ja Morant’s father and mother. Ja’s mother was a point guard in high school and a softball player in college, and his father played basketball for Claflin University.
Tee is probably between 40 and 50 years old, and he and his wife Jamie have two kids: Ja Morant and his younger sister Teniya Morant.
Tee Morant played on the Hillcrest high school team with NBA legend Ray Allen. After that, he did well in high school and college. He even went to an NBA camp in Dallas.
Free agents were said to have tried out at the camp. He was told that teams were only interested in players who were at least 6ft 8in tall.
Tee thought about playing professional basketball overseas after he had played semi-professionally. But when his girlfriend, Jamie, got pregnant with Ja, he stopped playing basketball and became a barber instead.
Teniya, Ja’s sister, also plays basketball. She started at Dalzell’s Hillcrest Middle School. She then moved to Tennessee and went to Houston High School in Germantown. She is in her senior year now, and you can find her on Instagram at @niyamorant.
