According to Motorsport.com, Federico and his brother Max were in a car that hit a truck on the highway near Valle de Bravo resort, which is about 60 miles west of Mexico City.

The driver, who was 17 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene. Max was airlifted to a nearby hospital, where he is being treated for injuries that are not life-threatening.

Federico raced in the Truck Mexico Series, and he ran his first race in the US, a Late Model race, in 2021. In 2022, he was also named the Rookie of the Year in the NASCAR Mexico Challenge Series.

NASCAR Mexico Series posted a touching black-and-white tribute to the aspiring driver and “our friend” on Twitter.

Federico’s death was very sad, and people from NASCAR and other motorsports took to Twitter to pay their respects.

Daniel Suarez wrote, “We lost a very skilled young driver last night.” “RIP, Federico Gutierrez.”
