Elon Musk Fortnite tweet: Real?

Is Elon Musk buying Fortnite: Elon Musk Fortnite tweet: In the /r/funny subreddit on October 19, 2018, a user by the name of The-shadowxz posted a screenshot of a MarketWatch news story with the headline “Elon Musk buys Fortnite and deletes it.”

The article was about how Musk had purchased the game and then deleted it.

On the screenshot, I was able to make out the name Mike Murphy. Even though Mike Murphy is a real contributor to MarketWatch, he did not write this story because this story was never published in the first place. As a practical joke, the screenshot was hacked together, most likely in Photoshop.

Is Elon Musk going to delete Fortnite?

Around once every six months, a rumor starts making its way around the internet that the richest person in the world, Elon Musk, intends to buy Fortnite solely for the purpose of erasing it from existence after he has done so.

This rumor is not based on any information that has been leaked, it did not originate from any source that can be trusted, and it is not at all accurate. It has its origins in a meme that was initially created in October 2018 as a joke.

The Elon Musk Fortnite meme, much like other popular memes, gave rise to a plethora of imitations and spinoffs, and it never really went away.

It rears its ugly head every once in a while, most of the time in the form of a fan-induced panicked rumor, and not as a joke. For instance, during the Fornite Black Hole event that occurred in October 2019, all through which all official Fortnite channels ended up going mysteriously dark, many fans took this as a sign that Musk had purchased and deleted Fortnite.

Rest assured that he has not done so, that he has no plans to do so in the near future, and that he never will. Get back on that Battle Bus, because it’s time to have some fun.
