ByteDance may be considering new ways to re-enter the Indian market. The company that owns popular platforms such as TikTok had to leave the country a few years ago for a variety of reasons.
According to The Economic Times, ByteDance is looking for partners in India who can help the company relaunch in the market and rehire both old and new employees to help it grow.
According to ET, the talks between the two companies are currently at a “exploratory stage.” According to sources close to the publication, government officials have also been informed about the plans. “There have been no formal discussions with us yet.” We have, however, been informed of the plans. We will review their request as it comes to us for approval,” a government official told ET.
However, it is unclear whether the Indian government will allow a Chinese-run app to relaunch India following its long-standing issues with China.
According to a TikTok representative, the company is excited to reconnect with Indian users.
