Maui Shark Attack Incident: A shark attacked a beachgoer in Maui, Hawaii, over the weekend, and the person was said to be in very bad shape.

According to a press release from the Maui Police Department, on September 3, police were called to help a woman from France who had been bitten by a shark.

According to a list of shark incidents kept by the government of Hawaii, this is the first one to happen in Maui in 2022.

A shark bit a woman in Maui, Hawaii, on Saturday. According to a press release from the Maui PD, the woman was in critical condition.

According to HawaiiNewsNow, the woman, who was visiting from France and was 51 years old, was bitten in the water near Paia Bay on Maui around 4 p.m.

The Maui Police Department said in a statement that the woman had been seen swimming or snorkeling near the shore before the incident. After it happened, bystanders helped her to shore and took care of her wounds until medical staff arrived.

The Maui PD also said that the 51-year-old victim was taken to the Maui Memorial Medical Center after it was said that they were in critical condition to get more medical care.

The first shark attack of 2022 happened on Maui Beach

According to a list of shark incidents kept by the government of Hawaii, what happened in Paia Bay is the first shark-related thing to happen on Maui in 2022.

The site has information about events that have happened in Hawaii since 1995. It says that events are added to the list after the Division of Aquatic Resources looks into them.

The last thing that happened on Maui’s shores, according to the list, was in November of last year. At the time, a person in the Mala Wharf area of Lahaina who was spearfishing was hurt on their upper right thigh.

The list also says that there were two more incidents on Maui in 2021, one in May and one in January. This means that there were a total of three incidents in 2021.

According to the statistics, Maui had almost twice as many non-fatal bites as Oahu, which came in second place with slightly more than 20 non-fatal bites.
